Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are
Minitute helps tutors assess how well students understand the essays they have written. This policy explains how personal information is used when you visit our website or use our service.

For privacy enquiries, please contact us.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Minitute, we may process account and contact details, essays, tailored questions, video and audio responses, assessment scores and tutor feedback. We also process technical and activity information, including head movement, mouse activity and audio signals used to flag possible AI assistance.

3. How we use information
We use information to provide and secure the service, generate essay-specific questions, analyse responses, produce scores for tutor review, respond to enquiries and meet legal obligations. Scores and AI-assistance flags support tutor review; they are not proof of misconduct or a final academic decision.

4. Our role and lawful bases
When an institution uses Minitute to assess students, it will generally determine why and how student information is processed, and Minitute will process that information on its behalf. The institution’s privacy notice explains its lawful basis and assessment practices.

We handle personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

5. UK storage and security
Personal data is stored in the United Kingdom and encrypted in transit and at rest. No system can guarantee absolute security.

6. Who can access information
Student information is made available to authorised users at the relevant institution and service providers needed to operate Minitute, subject to appropriate contractual protections. We may also disclose information where required by law.

7. How long we keep information
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the service, fulfil our agreements with institutions and meet legal obligations.

8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict or object to its use, and receive a portable copy. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. These rights are subject to legal exceptions.

If your institution uses Minitute, contact it first about your assessment information. You can also contact us at charles@minitute.co.uk. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

9. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings, although this may affect some website features.

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service or legal obligations change. The date above shows when it was last updated.
